Snehonir

Snehonir :

The word can be broken up into two parts; namely Sneho (Compassion) and Nir (a place of stay). Our organization has undertaken a project to provide shelter to underprivileged children. Along with providing them with a safe stay, we also look after their nutrition and education under this project. The children are housed in an ashram called Sri Sri Ramakrishna Sevasram. Srimat Swami Nityabodhananda, our trustee member looks after the upbringing and well-being of these children.

Ananda Path

Anandapath:

Anandapath means learning with fun. Imparting joyful education to young minds nurturing and nourishing them psychologically, spiritually and helping them embark on the life's journey fearlessly realising that true god thrives within.

The project brings together 60-70 children from a remote village in Amta, Howrah, and educates them. Other than imparting formal education, these children are also taught the tenets of recitation and other cultural activities. The present education system is burdensome for many students. As a result, the crux of education which is the accumulation of knowledge is gradually fading away and is paving the way for alternatives.

KHOWAI through this project is bringing back the concept of learning with fun so that these students can further their careers without thinking education is a burden.

Swayamg sampuma

Sayam-Sampurna:

The word can be described as ‘Self-Independent’. The country is taking steps towards women empowerment. And KHOWAI is not lagging behind. Women can be empowered when they and educationally and financially independent. As Swami Vivekananda told -

"There is no chance of the welfare of the world unless the condition of women is improved. It is not possible for a bird to fly on one wing."

So we start a venture for the empowerment of underpriviledged women, train them in various livelihood skills and generating source of income for them so that they can lead their life with dignity and sustain their family. The project teaches women from different households the art of stitching, which has been a forgetting trend.

Earlier, our mother and grandmother would sit by the balcony and stitch our torn clothes or make something new from pieces of cloth. The industry prospered in our state during the 1980s.

And we have again brought back the lost art to empower these women. They can stitch items like bags, purses, etc. and sell them in the market. The state government has also come up with initiatives to sell these hand-made or hand-stitched products. Besides stitching, our organization is planning to equip these women in others forms of tradecraft.

swamij'r fouj

Swamiji’r Fouj: The name comes from our country’s notable guru Swami Vivekananda. Fouj means army while Vivekananda was addressed as Swamiji by his followers.  The name identifies the team of volunteers who run the activists of KHOWAI.

The team works according to the ideologies of Vivekananda to build a better society. The team primarily looks after the above-mentioned projects and disseminated the teachings of the great sage in schools, colleges and other educational institutions. The modus operandi of this army is to ensure that the work done by our Trust spread across the country. We envision spreading our ideology across the different strata of society through this team.
